Hot off the Presses!: Two New Peer-Reviewed Commentaries Published in Translational Issues in Psychological Science!

Hot off the presses! My brilliant mentee at Northeastern Illinois University, Marquee M. Reno and I have recently published two commentaries in the journal Translational Issues in Psychological Science. The first, "Commentary on Translational Impact of Djurovic et al. (2024): Youth and Caregiver Readiness to Engage in Psychological Treatment: The Untapped Utility of a Dynamic and Multifaceted Construct" discusses the benefits of examining the nature and extent or parent-youth discrepancies about youth's need for mental health treatment. It also offers some theoretical and methodological ideas for how researchers and applied professionals can leverage this content and support parents and youth who might seek psychological services. The second, "Commentary on Translational Impact of Galán-Luque et al. (2024): Developmentally Informed Transdiagnostic Approaches to Children’s Emotional Functioning" also critiques theoretical and methodological approaches to understanding transdiagnostic mechanisms underlying children's emotional functioning. In line with our principles and philosophical positions, we argue that the function of youth development and behavior can only be understood in the context in which it emerges, an idea sometimes forgotten or under-explored in transdiagnostic research. Copies of the accepted version of each publication can be found on this site, and eventually on my Google Scholar and ResearchGate profiles.
